We're Back!

Oh what a summer it has been!  Jake has now graduated from baby to toddler.   As a big 12 month old here are some of the things that he has accomplished so far. 

Jake is a walker!  And a good one too.  We(actually, mimi) finally bought him some good walking shoes.  We took him to the Stride Rite store and had them measure his feet and from the moment they tried to use the foot measure device on him it was a bust.  He pitched a fit when we actually put the shoes on him.  He sat in his stroller holding his feet for the entire rest of the time we were at the mall and proceeded to hold his feet the whole way home.  About a day and half later he finally realized that we weren't going to give in and has since gotten used to it...

Jake has 10 teeth.  8 regular ones and 2 molars. Ouch, that was no fun.

He weighs 22lbs (50th percentile) and is 29 inches long (25th percentile) His peditrician said that the height percentile is subjective because it is hard to get an accurate measurement of a squirming baby.  Actually, Jake's height was the same at his 9 month check as at the 12 months check.  Dr.Leiloglou said he finds it very hard to believe that Jake has not grown in the last 3 months so we are curious to see what happens at the 15 month check. 

When Jake started back to school he started the immune system building phase of his life.  Sean and I did as well.  He got pink eye, colds and ear infections.  Sean and I got colds as well.  After the 4th ear infection in 5 weeks, Jake got tubes put in his ears.  Hard to tell if it was the same ear infection that never went away or if it was a new one.  SO we had the tubes put in and haven't looked back since!

This year has been brought so many first for my little family.  We have loved every minute of it!  I still cannot believe I have a one year old!

Jake also got to meet his cousind Malcolm and Bland.  It was VERY difficult to get 3 babies to look at one camera.  The twins momma was obviously in the opposite direction as Jake's momma

This was so funny.  Jake wanted to love on his cousin Lola and would hug her forever if he could.  He would not do this for anyone else but her.  I love the look on her face, she feels very lucky that she is the only one he wanted to hug *sarcasm* (and in her defense, this was like the 4th time we made her do it.  The first 3 times she thought it was cute...)

Birthday Party!

We had so much fun for Jake's first birthday.  We had a pool party at Grandmommy's house and everyone was so happy to celebrate with Jake.  He was EXTREMELY impressed with the cake and ice cream.  However, EXTREMLEY unimpressed with the birthday hat!

First Hair Cut

Jake started back to baby school in June.  One of the first days there, a teacher asked us if we cut Jake's hair intentionally so he could have a rat tail.  I, as calmly as possibly said, "No, he's in need of a haircut and we haven't had time but are going to go TOMORROW!"  So his first haircut (pics below) was in June.  He has since had another one.  I know, bad blogger...

My two favorite people in the whole wide world.  I'm thinking Jake is starting to look an awful like his daddy.  I mean seriously, could they be ANY cuter??!!

Now that he's mobile Jake had to figure out how to get from point A to point B,C,D,E and so on with whatever toy he is fixated on at the moment. Well, now he's reminding me an awful lot of a dog...

9 Months Old!

Hard to believe it, but believe it folks - Jake is 9 months old! We went to his nine month check up and he is weighing in at 21 lbs 10 oz (64%tile) and is 28 1/2 inches (50%tile).

Boy oh boy has Jake been busy acheiving some MAJOR milestones since we last checked in with yall.  He can say "mama" which melts my heart when he looks at me and says it.  However, quickly thereafter he will look at our dog and say "mama..."  BUT he knows exactly who I am when he wakes up in the morning and I haven't come in to get him out of bed yet and I will hear "mamamamamamamamamam" over the monitor.  After a lot of coaching he now will say "dada"

He has also started crawling(real crawl, not army crawl, 8 1/2 months) and pulls up on everything.  When he isn't thinking about it he will lift up his hands and will be standing on his own, as soon as he realizes it though he falls.  We think he'll be walking really soon

I am still his absolute most favorite person.  I'm not just saying this because I am the one writng this post.  Sean will absolutley agree but he knows he is a close second.    

Here is Jake on his first day back to school.  He loves his teachers, they are the same ones as before.  Nice little expected bonus, Jake got pink eye and an ear infection first week back.  Poor baby!

Jake's cousins, Amber and JJ, came to visit us. We had so much fun hanging out with all of our family.  We did so much fun stuff.  We went to NIOSA, to Rudy's, had a pool party at Mimi and Papaw's house and a BBQ at Travis and Nicole's.  Here are just a few snaps of such a fun weekend!  Thanks Amber and JJ for coming to Texas!  We love yall!

Back By Popular Demand...

You asked for it (mom) and you got it!! We sure have been busy growing, eating, and living!!  Jake is now 8 MONTHS old!!  When he was first born I remember around 2 months (when I was EXHAUSTED)  people would ask me "doesn't it go so fast" and I would think "um, NO.  You clearly are not waking up with him every night.  I have felt ever SINGLE day that has gone by!!!"  But now I can totally see what they meant. 

So what has Jake been up to??  Well, let me tell you.  He has been VERY busy growing teeth.  He has 5 teeth!! 3 on top and 2 on bottom!  My sister calls him Dr. Teeth, because he has a PHD in teeth growing!  Seriously, he cute 3 teeth in ONE week! 

The first 2 came in February which I fondly refer to as the month of hell.  After my adorable little post about our time in Dallas for Valentines Day where Jake was such a good boy he decided to retaliate.  In his defense, he cut his first 2 teeth at one time and that was literally HELL for him... Then after the week of torture from the teeth, I got the stomach flu - of course I couldn't be the ONLY one to get it.  The next day as I was still recovering, Sean started to feel bad.  Then the next day guess who got it?  If you guessed Jake you were right!  

In March, Sean and I took our first trip without the babe. We went skiing in Beaver Creek, CO.  He stayed with my sister and her family and had a great time!  Thanks yall for watching him!

Jake is ALMOST a full time crawler.  For now he will crawl a few steps, stop, do a push up, then decide to roll where he is going.  Sometimes I think he is perfectly content rolling everywhere...

What's up next for Jake?  Well, his CA cousins are coming to visit him in April for a little Fiesta Fun!  We are so excited to see them!!  Stay tuned...

Jake's First Easter

For Easter, we went to Marble Falls to visit Sean's mother's side of the family. We had a great time catching up with everyone. Nice meal, Nice wine, Nice Holiday!! Last time we were up there I was about 7 months pregnant with Jake, so it was nice to not be and show off our little (big) guy! Thanks Kim and Byron for having us, we had so much fun and can't wait to go swimming this summer in your new pool!!
